The Formula
Liters are the common base. Milliliters convert by dividing by 1,000; teaspoons by multiplying by 0.00492892; tablespoons by multiplying by 0.0147868; cups by multiplying by 0.236588 (the standard US customary cup — 236.588mL); and fluid ounces by multiplying by 0.0295735. A conversion between any two units first turns your input into liters using its own factor, then divides by the target unit's factor to reach the final result.
A Worked Example
3 US teaspoons converts to 1 US tablespoon almost exactly — (3 × 0.00492892) ÷ 0.0147868 comes out to 1.000, matching the standard kitchen rule of thumb that 3 teaspoons make a tablespoon.
